Fogueteiros Street/ Azevedo de Albuquerque Street I

The Olival Hill population was, in the 16th century, mainly composed by men, whose occupations were linked to the toponymy of some of its streets: Coronheiros Street (rifle butt makers), Besteiros Street (crossbowmen), Ferraria Street (blacksmiths), Cordoaria (ropeworkers). The same logic explains the old designation of what is now the Azevedo de Albuquerque Street, Fogueteiros Street (fireworkers), where several pyrotechnical artisans worked. The Fogueteiros Street and Wall are connected with other functions of the area. The buildings attached to the Virtudes manor-house may have had some connection with the Estate, housing the Wheel of the Exposed and the Podestá School.
