Collected, "after the Minnesota Massacre in 1862 by the wife of 'Thin Moose', an Indian belonging to 'Standing Buffalos' band of Sioux Indians and has been in the possession of the donor, Mr. W.R. Tucker, for 20 years. Mr. Tucker (now of Toronto) has held the position of instructor on 'White Caps' Sioux Reserve, Moose Woods, for the past 20 years." Ken Goodwill, of Standing Buffalo Reserve, suggested around 2000 that the name is more accurately, "Thin Man."
