Das Fragment war ursprünglich in eine Statue eingelegt. Ägyptisch blau ist ein künstlicher Werkstoff der an Lapislazuli imitiert. Zur Darstellung von Haaren wurde im Alten Orient häufig Lapislazuli verwendet, da dessen charakteristische kräftige blaue Farbe an glänzende schwarze Haare erinnert.
