The manor was designed by the French Renaissance architect Philibert De l'Orme. The gallery, built by the order of Catherine de Medici, is lit by eighteen windows, with slate floor and exposed joist ceiling. It was inaugurated in 1577. Each end holds a decorative Renaissance fireplace. The medallions on the walls were added in the 18th century.
