Francesco Ravetti - 1911 -
Italy’s History drawing,
from ancient times until 1911
1911
Print on paper, 225 × 135 cm. Italian Pavilion, Government Officies. A large print on paper, created in 1911 by Professor Francesco
Ravetti and dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele III and to the Italian
municipalities for the 50th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
The print is a chronological table of the most important
events in the history of Italy from the ancient pre-Roman peoples
until 1911, portrayed graphically as a tree with roots representing
the map of the Italian peninsula.
The commemorative arras was distributed to schools in 1911,
and is one of the rare original examples that remain intact; it is
unique of its kind for the amount of information it contains.
