Friedrich Schiller (after Ludovike Simanowiz)

This lithograph is based on a portrait by the Württemberg painter Ludovike Simanowitz which served as a model for numerous graphic works, medals etc. Friedrich Schiller was very much revered by the liberal German bourgeoisie in the 19th century, so that this classical and somewhat idealized portrait was very popular then.
