Kwok, an artist of installation and performance art, has been using the frog as his artistic icon for many years. Quirky yet ambivalent in its expression, the frog is his signature, and thus his nickname "Frog King". His works often carry a sense of Chinese calligraphy with his manipulation of ink and brush strokes. This series of ink paintings demonstrates how he adopts the format of Chinese ink painting to present the frog icon. His energy and impromptu spirit are well-demonstrated in vivid brushstrokes and use of ink. His work personalises and revitalises the expression of ink art, giving relevance to the cultural context of our world today.
