This is part of an initiative of Colombia Reserva Ambiental, an NGO trying to recover the paramo of Guerrero, a special Andean ecosystem located 3.400 m above sea level that is being exploited and contaminated by uncontrolled mining. This unique environment hosts one of the most important water sources for the capital (Bogota): the water body of Neusa. 7.000 trees have been planted all over the wet misty mountains; in the midst of the COVID19 pandemic, religious traditional burials of bodies have been prohibited, so ashes are being buried as a ceremonial act to motivate people to grow a tree and name it as the loved one they've lost to this merciless disease.
