  • About the series: Mayajaal is an oft repeated Hindi word for “magic”. This photo essay is a trip down memory lane, to a magic show. What is illusion? What is reality? Nowhere does this philosophical enquiry make itself more proximate to our thoughts than in a magic show. A magician is said to have the most honest profession in the world for he promises to deceive, and he does. And in doing so he earns our awe and respect. A magic show serves as a meditation on our real lives. We create our own illusions and we create our own reality and often we can’t decide which is which. Certainly, the world is a magic show on the grandest scale.
