About the series: On Stage:
Founded in 1987 in order to preserve and share the rich historical traditions of Russian dance in the United States, the Brighton Ballet Theater is the premier Russian ballet and folk dance group in New York City. It is a piece of old Europe on the shores of the ocean shared by both continents.
This series was shot in 2011 and 2012 during holiday performances of The Nutcracker and Swan Lake, original ballets based on Pyotr Tchaikovsky's classic score. Choreographed by Edouard Kouchnarev, a new generation Russian choreographer who has danced and choreographed throughout the world, the BBT productions are a charming introduction to ballet and classic tales of magical atmospheres.
