Yanagi Sōri (1951-2011), who was the third director of the Japanese Folk Crafts Museum, once placed an order for a fruit knife. The first knife made with a straight blade was dismissed by Yanagai, who instead provided his own design for the knife he had requested. After that the knife designed by Yanagi became Takahashi Smithery’s original product.
