In 1948, Rudolf Hell bought the licenses to Siemens' telegraphy patents and subsequently established himself as a leading manufacturer of imaging devices. When the German picture telegraph offices resumed operation after the Second World War, he and his company developed special picture telegraphs for the Post Office: the "F Types." Easy to operate and designed to meet the technical requirements of the image sites, the transmitters and receivers were in widespread use.
