Zhou Jin has been working in the medium of Chinese ink with a focus on figure drawing. This is a set of paintings in four vertical scrolls which portray swimmers in an underwater environment and capture the feelings of floating and descending into water. Drawn with succinct brushwork and nuanced ink tones, the figures appear distorted to give the illusion of underwater. The colours are subtle and delicate, while the blank spaces are skillfully designed, giving room for imagination.
