"Fuertes" Moccasin

These two master shoemakers from Barcelona have been nominated for the Product Award for their Fuertes moccasin, a piece that responds to the search for a design that is as durable as possible and not dependent on the season. With its convertible front, the shoe becomes an open sandal for the hottest times of the year, using the laces themselves. The construction of handmade footwear is so slow and meticulous that it hardly fits into seasonal collection cycles. In essence, craftsmanship is made to last, not to respond to trends. Taking this quality to its ultimate consequences, these artisans propose that instead of changing shoes, the shoe itself changes with the seasons. The company has been named Master Shoemakers by the Barcelona Shoemakers Guild and the San Marcos Brotherhood, and in 2019 won the National Craft Award in the Entrepreneurship category.
