Ayam, also called aegeom, is a women’s winter headgear worn in the Joseon Dynasty. Its top has a wide enough opening to wrap the forehead, from which drapes were hung. Tassels were attached at the front, at the back and at the center, while a ribbon was added with a cicada-shaped ornament made of cloudy amber or jade.
