Museo Nacional de Arte Romano
Mérida, Spain

This is thought to have been used as a votive offering or decoration on a large building. The horse portrayed is injured, and there are drops of blood on its body. It may have had a rider on its back which has since been lost, as have the two front legs and the back leg at knee height. It was found by chance in 1924 in the north of the city of Mérida.
