The classic Uncle Wiggily board game is based on the popular tales of Uncle Wiggily Longears, the hero of a series of children's tales written by Howard Garis which appeared from 1910 to 1946 in the daily editions of the "Newark (New Jersey) News." The stories of the elder gentlemanly rabbit included other characters such as Baby Bunny, Skiller Scaller, and Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy. Milton Bradley first produced the board game in 1916 as a black-covered playing board sold along with a black implement box. Both the board and the box bore brightly illustrated labels. Bradley, and subsequently Parker Brothers, produced the game uninterrupted up until the present day. Not as simple as Candy Land because reading is involved, Uncle Wiggily still charms younger children with friendly characters and ease of play.
