This sleigh belonged to Revolutionary War hero General Peter Gansevoort of Albany, New York. The initials "PG" are painted on the rear panel. It has a heavy box-body, painted dark green with fittings for up to six seat boards. It is mounted on long runners supported by shaped knees. The front and rear panels are secured with a curved jointed yoke. The panels can be removed for easy storage or to convert the sleigh into a tote sled.
