Wangye Museum

Wangye Museum
Shenzhen, China

This is a bowl with a brown glazed body and a white rim. The white accent color imitates the gold and silver accents used in other bowls. The phrase fulun (cover wheel) comes from Japan, where the glazing practice is called heritori. The primary meaning of heritori is decorating the edge, which is called fulun in Chinese. The secondary meaning of heritori refers to the edges of flower petals that are a different color than the rest of the flower.
