The Parador Hotel of Montemar in the town of Torremolinos was one of the first places involved in the development of tourism in the Costa del Sol. Its owner, Carlota Alessandri, was a driving force behind the area at the beginning of the 20th century, and she developed top-quality tourism in the first few years. New tourism businesses followed suit and Torremolinos turned into a global landmark.
