Flávio de Barros was hired by the Brazilian army to register his 4th and last expedition to Arraial de Canudos. Accompanying the troops commanded by General Carlos Eugênio, he arrived in Canudos on September 26, 1897 and remained there until October 6, the day after the final surrender.
