This original caricature is one of the oldest of its kind in North America. Drawn two and a half centuries ago by officer George Townshend, second brigadier to Major-General Wolfe (1727-1759), it is a cruelly skilful reminder of the tenuous relationship between him and James Wolfe at the time of the attack on Quebec in 1759. David Ross McCord enthusiastically acquired seven Townshend cartoons.
