Geological studies in the province of Chancay. Doctoral thesis

"Estudios geologicos de la provincia de Chancay" ("Geological studies of the province of Chancay") is one of the first thesis written and supported by a woman in Peru. Its author, Laura Esther Rodriguez Dulanto (Barranca, 1872 - Lima, 1919) managed to enter the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in a context in which female education was very conservative and only reached the primary level, while university education was reserved for men. Rodríguez studied at the Faculty of Sciences and Medicine, and became the first doctor in the Nation.
