Stays or corset of brown coarse linen, closely stitched in rows from top to bottom to encase the cane or whalebone stiffening. Lined with coarse linen. The front top edge is very low, the back being much higher and having shoulder straps which are fastened at the front through eyelet holes. The front of the corset tapers into a point below the waist,the lower edge being cut into tabs. Laces down the back through eyelet holes.
