An arch adorned as a city gate with crenellations and matching turrets frames the calendar for the month of September. Beneath the arch, an unidentified figure appears in bust form. He may be Germanicus Caesar, famous for his military victories in the Rhineland. The young woman in the medallion represents the zodiacal sign of Virgo.
