The giant oceanic manta ray is a gigantic ray. With its enormous width the manta makes large strokes with its side fins. This creates a current to its abdomen where its mouth is located. In front of its mouth it has two protrusions that work like a funnel. This allows the giant oceanic manta ray to filter food out of the water. And as you might imagine it does not filter all of the plankton out of the water. Sometimes a small fish makes good use of this. It attaches itself to the underside of the giant oceanic manta ray to eat up the leftovers.
