The work of Susan Philipsz Glass Track is a four-channel sound installation. The sound, which the artist presents, is a composition created by rubbing, with wet fingers, the edges of glasses filled with water at different levels. The nostalgic melody thus obtained by the artist resembles a mournful song, a lamenting for people leaving the area where the exhibition took place, which is traditionally accompanied by the wine glasses. The sound intervention in the space evokes the new, melancholic poetics of this place. The work, causing unusual tension with the use of minimum measures, was created for Büro Friedrich in Berlin and referred to the unstable situation in which the gallery then was. [P. Lisowski]
