Gold arm-ring with funnel-shaped finials and incised designs. The object, also called an ‘oath ring’, is one of nine currently known finds of its kind from northern Central Europe. Oath rings have been found in hoards and in men’s graves from the late Bronze Age. Such rings presumably identified their wearers as high-ranking individuals. The term ‘oath ring’ is a name historically given to such rings by archaeologists, and does not indicate their actual use.
