Born in the Republic of Sudan in 1946 Salih Mashamoun is a poet and diplomat who served as Sudanese ambassador to many countries. He attended the University of Alexandria where he won three gold medals in art. He took part in three exhibition in African Heritage in Nairobi and one man exhibition in Khartoum, Damascus, Beirut, Addis Ababa and several European countries. His paintings are in more than 70 private collections around the world. He was the featured artist at African Heritage exhibition when the building burned down in 1976, where many of his paintings were lost.
