Gown

Gown with skirt and bodice in embroidered tulle over silk gauze. The bodice is boned and between the tulle and the lining has a layer of silk gauze blending in with the colour of the lining. The square front neckline has an embroidered appliqué and an embroidered tulle bow tied in the centre. The globe-shaped tulle sleeves are decorated with frilled gauze and braid. The full skirt has a long train with a silk base and double pleated flounce at the lower edge.

The S-line curve typical of this time with its nipped-in waist emphasised the bust, pushing it forward at the front and emphasizing the lower back at hip level, giving a sinuous outline which fitted the ideals of Modernism.
