Gown in purple silk damask with a bodice and skirt. The close-fitting bodice has twelve bones and three-quarter length sleeves. The long silk satin skirt has a train, with a draped apron and asymmetrical tunic at the front. The bustle exaggerates the volume of the skirt at the back.
This gown belonged to Queen Maria Cristina of Hapsburg, the second wife of King Alfonso XII. The Queen must have brought this gown with her as part of her trousseau.
