Gown

Dress with self-coloured lace bodice and satin skirt with lace appliqué. The under-bodice is boned and the over-bodice bloused, with a standing collar. The full length skirt has a train and a straight front with two strips of openwork lace and is decorated with scattered medallions. The ground is silk flat weave with a wide pleated flounce edged with a gauze frill.

The decoration and design here coincide with the models in fashion in the first decade of the 20th century, with the triumph of the “S” curve which fitted in with the aesthetic ideals of Modernism.
