There are two types of masks in Tibet. The Lamas’ religious dances called Cham and the other for the laic theater, the Lhamo. It is a traditional The Cham dance is related to the shamanic Bon religion which is performed in different ceremonies all year in order to expel evil spirit or negative influences. It can take seven whole days. Most parts of the movements are done by tibetan monks who use mainly their feet. Each foot gesture has its specific symbolic meaning.
