The Great Barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) can be found in nearly all tropical seas except for the eastern Pacific. They grow up to 2 metres long and will sometimes gather in large schools to hunt smaller fish. They are known to carry ciguatera poison, a toxin produced by a microscopic dinoflagellate organism that accumulates in predatory fish. Eating an infected fish can cause quite severe illness.
