Yangzhou Museum

Yangzhou Museum
Yangzhou, China

Unearthed in Zhutang village, Pingshan town of Yangzhou city in 1963, this lidded container with a flat bottom is in an oval shape seen from above. Curly clouds in green composed of free-flowing lines can be seen on the exterior side of the lid. The coarse greyish white pottery body is covered with lustrous green glaze inside out. Given the inscription of “oil case” on similar containers discovered, this piece is believed to be used for keep cosmetics.
