Greenlands, a riverside mansion, was built in around 1810 and later became the home of William Henry Smith of the WH Smith newsagent family. The library was designed and redecorated by the designer, artist and writer William Morris, another Thames riverside resident. After the Second World War the house became a college for business education and is now part of Reading University.
