Hamburg and Archaeology: Sword Blade and Dagger Pommel

The sword blade and the pommel of a dagger come from barrows on König-Heinrich-Weg and Heidlohstrasse, respectively. The blade was recovered around 1860 when the barrow was removed. The dagger pommel came to light during excavations in 1952. Both of these almost 4 000 year-old finds can be interpreted as insignia of the Bronze Age warriors who were buried here.
