In the late 1970s Bob Doyle, a Harvard Ph.D. and inventor who had previously worked for NASA invented Merlin--the Electronic Wizard. One of the first handheld electronic games, Merlin resembles an oversize remote telephone and includes a simple microprocessor. With Merlin, an individual can play simple card games, sequence games, and make music. Merlin sold extremely well during its initial run and continued strong into the 1980s. Milton Bradley recently released an updated, slightly smaller version.
