This lamp has been attributed to the Anti-Atlas Mountains in the southwest of Morocco based on similarities to other works with this type of cast workmanship. However, in the twentieth century, the lamp type was also produced or at least used in Sefrou and Rabat further to the north, as evidenced by a mold for a related type that was created in Sefrou around 1940 and by examples collected in Rabat.
Copies continued to be made in Israel into the later twentieth century.
