The Sport was the first motorcycle that Harley-Davidson marketed specifically to women, billing it "the woman's outdoor companion." Motorcycles produced by the British company Douglas probably inspired the unusual design. The engine, an opposed twin, is its most notable feature. The Sport was also the first Harley® motorcycle with a "keystone frame," in which the engine acts as an integral, load-bearing component of the structure.
