Shoes for hardened walkers

This pair is a perfect replica of the traditional shoes for hardened walkers which was manufactured by a shoemaker in Bosen on 3 September 1981. The shoes for hardened walkers were characterised by their strong metal fitting, which made it possible to hear the miners from far away. The RAG hosts a "hardened walker trail" each year, a competition with different routes on the old paths through the Saarkohlewald forest, past the old industrial buildings and through the cultural landscape characterised by slag heaps.
