Härtelwald shrine to Mary

The vertical panorama of the shrine to Mary in Härtelwald near Marpingen reflects the prayer area built around Mary's spring from 2005 to 2008. The view opens up from the altar into the great outdoors via the light source attached to the clerestory window. The place of prayer is named after the legend of the apparition of Mary dated 1876. Up to 50,000 worshippers set off on a pilgrimage to the place of apparition each year.
