Head of a Groom with Pipe

The painting was a gift from Dr. J. Blaha into the collection of SNG and it is an example of post-Barbizon painting of the artist, who was inspired by the specific way of rendering the landscape. The monochrome-toned scenery includes small light colour accents that dynamises this composition. The motif of grazing cattle is also common in Mednyánszky’s work, as is the image of rivers and streams.
