Candido Portinari1937

Projeto Portinari

Projeto Portinari
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Composition in black tones, red ochre, sepia and white. Contour lines, dotted lines and colored shaded. Composition representing profile Indian head on the left occupying almost the entire support area against white background. The figure has black hair, very smooth, with bangs covering her forehead with irregular edges, suggesting eye be pulled back to the left, with square tip nose, thin lips, closed slightly curved down and small chin rounded. See the posterior neck line without definition of the neck. The head is cut at the top edge for supporting the ear and is not defined. Light bursts suggest the reddish skin tone and facial volume.
