Its reproductive strategy is spectacular! The male Darwin frog (Rhinoderma darwinii) will first swallow its tadpoles, only to spit them out as fully formed young froglets weeks later. Scientists have so far recorded 39 different strategies that frogs and toads employ to take care of their offspring. They all have only one thing in common: In the end, there will be a fully formed, small froglet that represents the start of a new amphibian generation.
