In 1956, Tadeusz Kulisiewicz traveled to India. His increasingly synthetic style is evident in the portrait of the Hindu man. The figure is depicted from the waist up, wearing a turban. Leaning forward, he rests his forearms on something that extends beyond the picture plane. Kulisiewicz constructed the figure of the anonymous Hindu using a few soft lines. Despite the economical use of artistic means, the artist has created a psychological portrait — the subject appears tired and resigned.
