This is a tool used for traditional beekeeping. It is made by hollowing a thick, round log like a pipe, and drilling small holes on the side for bees to traverse through. Occasionally, the thick bark of an entire oak log is used after being stripped and dried instead of a log. It is installed by first preparing a location, setting up a beehive, putting a lid on the beehive, adding red clay on the lid, and covering the roof with straw. The beehives are installed in a sunny location inside a house, or the sunny side of a mountain or a field near a house.
