Eglė Gineitytė creates the nostalgic paraphrases of the symbolist tradition. The protagonists of her paintings are adolescent girls and boys submerging themselves into quiet rituals of mysterious activities. Art critic Vaidutė Brazauskaitė wrote about this group of works: “This is ‘quiet action’, which is devoid of verbosity, where everything is said with pauses, whispers, sighs, laconic line, apt body position or significant gesture.” Gineitytė does not focus on her characters’ silhouettes, postures and movements. Nude or identically dressed boys and girls are portrayed in pairs or small groups against the abstracted background of the seacoast, sand, meadow, sky or mist.
