With "Hopes and Dreams", the artist chose to look to his immediate environment. Reed identified these recycling containers close to his studio and apartment as a suitable platform for an urban intervention. By placing a vinyl sticker simply reading "Hopes" or "Dreams" on two neighbouring recycling bins, the artist prompts us to question our desires and priorities in everyday life.

Martyn Reed is a British artist, writer, independent researcher, curator and exhibition organizer based in Stavanger, Norway. He is the founder and artistic director of the Nuart Festivals and network. Much of Reed's work and the platforms he devises are international collaborative events that revolve around promoting art as part of everyday life using counter-cultural strategies, values and thinking.
