The house rules for the sleeping quarters of the Wellesweiler royal coal pit was a 13 paragraph regulation which had to be complied with for using dormitories. For example, rules relating to behaviour towards superiors in paragraph 5: "When a superior enters a room, the residents who are not in bed asleep must get up from their seat to greet them." Life in the sleeping quarters was subject to strict discipline which was monitored by supervisors.
